Perfect for my home office
By D. Schroeder
Although heavy and probably larger than a window air conditioner, this unit is worth every penny. I have a home office with a server and a couple PCs in it and this unit keeps the room as cold as I want it! I have central air - but my office always seemed stuffy. Now the entire upstairs loft is as cool and comfortable as the rest of the house. The unit vents outside - and even with my sliding windows, the venting area is narrow and does not obstruct my view. It can also be vented directly through the wall, but that seemed a little extreme to me. It is probably as loud as a window unit and has a fan only mode and a de-humidifier mode. The temperature is set by degrees, not some dumb low-medium-high setting. It plugs into a normal household plug and could be moved to another area of the house with little trouble. I am thinking, if the power went out, this unit could be used with the generator, we would not cook like the last time we lost power in the summer.

Some shortcomings
By bubusdeolivos
I bought this unit used, in very good shape.I would say that, after 4 days of heavy usage It's 12000 BTU's are NOT enough to refrigerate a 180 Sqf room with a big window facing South. (summer time, with just a 90F temp. outside)Also, its has NO movable / adjustable air deflectors; they are fixed and the air flow is too low, given the fact that cool air goes down.Another con, it's a sealed unit, meaning, you need to get special repair service to install a refrigerant charge valve in order to supply R407C ecologic gas, which is more expensive than others.Mine started leaking water from the bottom. I disassembled it, and after 18 screws, couldn't find the problem. Went online and found some people with the same problem: there's a small hole (you need to take off the left cover) that had some lint and was obstructing the flow of condensation water to the sink below: I had to use a wire, back and forth and VOILA, no more leaks. THIS IS NOT EXPLAINED IN THE MANUAL.Pros are it's portability and lack of installation.(holes, etc.)

Great portable air conditioner!
By A. Conte
Though much larger than a window version, this unit, shaped like the penguin after which it's named, allows for the cooling of individual rooms on demand, rather than wasteful central air. Just like the gas heating stove I installed in the room I use most, I can close off the same room and cool it down for a fraction of the cost of full house cooling. The filered air is an elixir on those uncomfortable days. Sometimes I turn it on for a while, at a higher temperature, just to get some filtered air in a stuffy room.Well worth the price. When once of the venting parts arrived broken, a friendly customer service person sent me a replacement within a few days.
