This is "Buyer Beware"
By Ted M. Johnson
I bought two of these within a couple of days of each other in June of 2008. One went down a couple of weeks out of warranty needing a control module. I found after much hard searching "including by the Home Depot people who sold it to me) that this is a Shadow Company. They don't provide parts nor do they do out of warranty service. If something goes wrong within the warranty they simply replace the entire unit. Home Depot rep said today that this company is claiming to have closed. Evidently no parts and no service is available. I'm considering opening a class action suit against Amcor. This unit is still being sold by hundreds of companies across the U.S. and maybe elsewhere. If this unit needs repairs you are out of luck!

AMCOR OUT OF BUSINESS
By TJS
DO NOT BUY AN AMCOR PRODUCT. The company merged with American Comfort Worldwide and they DO NOT provide any parts, service, or technical support. I purchased my Amcor Nanomax CF14000E last year and it stopped blowing cold air when I brought it out for this season. I called for technical support and was told they could only SELL me a refurbished replacement.

good; but need more
By D. sharp
I wanted to buy the 12000 btu model; but all that was left at the store was the 9000e. The unit works good for spot cooling or taking the edge off a hot room;but not cooling a room to where it really feels like your in airconditioning. I was thinking about buying the 12,000 armcor btu model after my experience, but when i look at pictures as well as amperage ratings of each model; they seem both identical as far as power requirements and look- i really wonder if there the same model part wise accept for the "model number"; but dont know for sure. At any rate, i ordered another brand that i have not received yet and can only hope that it works better. One thing i must say, is that as far trying to get "third party" testing information on almost any portable air conditioner is almost impossible and it really seems to be a guessing game as far as actual cooling power. In theory, a 9000 btu unit should be more than enough to cool my living space as a window unit of that size would be more than enough; my guess is that you need to add almost 50 to 100% more btu than you would need with a window unit....i will know more when i get my second unit and will post my findings under that model once i get a chance to use it.
